The thing about having to wake up at 5am every other weekday is that my weekend sleep cycles are all sorts of effed up. They’re effed up, I say!

Joe Biden and Paul Ryan are very different politicians, at least at face-value. Early this morning, one of my colleagues captured this neatly:
Joe Biden is like, an old man who rides the train into work everyday. Paul Ryan does P90X in his office.
That said, I’m not quite sure why so many folks seem to believe that sparks are gonna fly or Joe Biden is gonna implode or whatever.
Remember when Joe Biden debated Sarah Palin? No? Oh. Wait, right. Biden’s performance back in 2008 was mostly just effective and competent and otherwise entirely forgettable.
I think Joe Biden is too smart to get spanked by Paul Ryan, and Ryan’s already a pretty likable guy, so I think it’s interesting to brainstorm what Paul Ryan upping his game might look like.
In any case, I think the VP debate is Ryan’s biggest opportunity simply to keep selling Romney’s vision as an alternative to Obama’s record. Ryan is too closely tied to Congress to be an effective attack dog, and Biden is too fluent in Congress to let Ryan walk away unscathed.
Judging from Twitter, liberals need to chill out a bit and just breathe: It’s not like Obama bombed or Romney transformed into Reagan or whatever; BHO just seemed exhausted and a bit jaded for the first half.
In any case, it’s the first of four debates. I’m curious as to how Romney will play in a town hall format, which instinctively I think favors Obama. I think the town hall forum is probably the most critical of the four, FWIW.
Despite all of the conservative noise about Obama’s foreign policy, I think Obama’s vision of international relations will likely play better before a prime time audience than listening to a former governor fear-mongering about random Arab countries and cracking jokes about Spain.
Not sure what I think about the VP debate yet.

Can someone explain China’s one-child policy to me? Like: Does anyone really think any country would be better off if only it had more only-childs?
As spoilers abound across my Tumblr feed, it’s hard being on here while not having watched the two most recent ‘Doctor Who’ episodes.
So, I’m just going to pay iTunes to let me watch them. I’m going to pay money to watch something on the internet. I’m going to pay money. This is ridiculous.
I think I’ve just gotten too old and lazy to steal television from the internet, but I guess I also just love the Doctor that much—yes, let’s go with that.
